EDWARD THE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER

From greeting to emceeing events; from logistics support to event planning, Edward has done it all. Edward is excited about being involved with events that are out to make a difference in society from volunteering at Epic Vancouver as a volunteer serving as a sponsorship coordinator at Car Free Day or even hosting his own community mingler events with his meetup group. Car Free Society

 

(Car Free Day Main Street)

Car Free Society seeks to encourage sustainable living and community engagement by working with city groups and hosting their annual event Car Free Day every June at four different locations.

 

Edward has volunteered at the Main street location providing the following support for the society:
​-Sponsorship Communication
-Volunteer Retention Coordination
​-Event logistics on the day of festival

-Observer on the board providing innovative ideas

-Social media planning and execution

With 5400 members and growing, ESV Social, (Aka. Extremely Shy Meetup) is the #1 most active meetup groups in Vancouver with 7+ events happening every week. From bowling nights to BBQs and sports trips, ESV social provides a safe and comfortable environemnt for Vancouverites who are looking to meet, socialize and build meaningful relationships. 


Having a mind set to own the challenge, Edward has been actively involved with organizing large size minglers to meet the community needs of the 5400 membership base. Edward puts on multiple hats in the group from event planning to mailing list management and sponsorship coordination to marketing to market analysis & research. Only 3 months into the program Sept 2011, Edward has started seeing results in his communication abilities. Since then he joined a second club and attends multiple clubs. In July 2012, Edward was appointed to be Assistant Division Governor for Division J (Burnaby and New Westminster) area Emceing at club officer training and preparing speech contests. 

 

 

In 2013-2014 year, Edward has been invited to the Public Relations team to help promote the Toastmasters brand and create new membership. Being an enthusiast about social media and a passion to innovate, he currently heads the social media initative for BC Toastmasters creating exposure fo the Toastmasters brand to the younger demographics which the BC chapter has been trying to find ways to incrase their exposure to for th past years. 

 

Serving as the assistant to the volunteer coordinator, Edward provided logistical support and motivation to the 100+ volunteer helping at the 20,000 visitors expo for sustainability living hosted by GLOBE foundation.

 

​Edward has returned the following year as the volutneer coordinator, serving along side with the production manager to put together a volutneer plan to recruit and manage volutneers for the 2013 event which was held at Van Dusen Garden.
